What's the best book you read this year?
Whilst it's a shocking condemnation of some parts of the American legal system (surely having ANYONE who's responsible tor trying or pressing cases should NOT be an elected official as this can, and will, lead to a "convictions for votes" situation), there have been similar miscarriages of justice in the UK and almost certainly every other country in the world.
Read it. Now.
What's your favorite thing to drink when it's cold outside?
Coffee made with freshly ground beans, yum. Failing that, a nice full-bodied New Zealand red. They really do make some fantastic wines over there! Chilean comes a very, very close second.
Today is Vox's first anniversary since the official launch. What's the best experience you've had on Vox in the past year?
Catching up with people I'd mostly lost touch with. Wenders, Dale, Joanie, Mark (when he deigns to post!) y'all have helped brighten my day on numerous occasions. Although I'd never realised before quite what a potty mouth Wendy was! ;)
Do you have a regular workout routine? What's your favorite form of exercise?
Does masturbation count? No, oh, ok.
Well, I guess I walk:
- from home to the station
- from the station to work
- from work to the station
- from the station to home
What sources do you count on for national news coverage? How about international and local news?
news.bbc.co.uk - why settle for anything less than hyperlinked up-to-the-minute goodness?
I've decided, mainly because I've ran out of any other remotely blog-worthy material to write an occasional series (almost certainly interspersed with QOTDs) of tricks I've discovered for dealing with a break-up and thus, Getting Over Him. See the reason for the topic title and tags now, clever, huh? ;-)
Smell. Yes. Smell. If the ex had an aftershave he wore regularly, go buy yourself a bottle and start wearing it (Or alternatively blag a load of samplers from your local Boots scent counter). That way, the next time you see him or smell the scent on someone else, well, you won't. So that awful gut-twisting sensation thanks to scent-association is gone. It really is that simple.
I forgot to blog about this... A couple of weeks ago I received a text from Fitness First saying "Fitness First miss you!", sadly it wasn't from a number, so I couldn't reply back with "I don't miss you, fuck off!". Oh well.
Is a TV series that starts airing in the USA again in a few days time. Watch it. Yes, yes, yes, the mistress IS the President of the United States from Prison Break, that'll save you days of going "aahhhh, who's that? who is it? arrrgh!?!?"
Anyway, isn't Portsmouth quite a nice place to just wander round! The harbour seems to have been "done up" quite nicely and I managed to eek out a walk of an hour or so round there and back again.
Gunwharf Quays is quite a nice shopping centre as well, with the open air part having an Italian Market on over the weekend. The smells, arrrgh! This was the location I'd chosen to wait for the friend I was going to lunch with and by the time he arrived I was positively salivating. Hopeully the Italian Market will be back soon and I'll be able to visit to actually buy from it.
Eating was done at a lunchtime buffet at the chinese restaurant in the complex (I can't remember the name, nor find it on the website). For a buffet it was pretty good with a wide selection of items that were all fresh and tasty. Well worth a try if you like chinese food and happen to be in Portsmouth.
What do you think about Ryan Seacrest being chosen to host tonight's Primetime Emmy Awards?
Absolutely nothing. This is one of the most US-centric and thus irrelevant QotD's I've seen. And they annoy me.
