How do you keep calm?
Submitted by L33tchica.
Now, that varies - I've got a lot better at controlling my temper over the years but a classic sign that I'm loosing my rag is if I capitulate. If I start talking very calmly and quietly and agreeing with what you're saying - run!
One really good way of keeping calm is going for a walk, it might just be for 10 minutes, but getting away from my desk and taking the time out works wonders.
And now time for a rant, about cyclists.
Put quite simply, get OFF THE FUCKING PAVEMENT! If you're a child, then fair-do's, it's probably safer for you to be on the pavement, but please don't cycle along at a break-neck pace. If you're an adult, you should damn well know better, get off the pavement and cycle on the road. Especially, and this is a sticking point, if you're on your way to work. If I see you EVERY SINGLE DAY weaving around the pavement playing "let's wind every single pedestrian up by being a bike riding arsehole", one of these days I'm going to kick your back wheel as you speed past. Wanker.
Oh, and if you feel the urge to cycle up the inside of a lane of traffic stopped waiting at a junction, don't be surprised if any pedestrians trying to cross yell "Wanker!" at you. Just because you're on a bike, it doesn't mean you get to take short-cuts.
What do you do for fun when you're broke?

I cook, I watch DVDs, I have friends round to visit - sometimes I combine all three into one evening and get the aforementioned friends to bring a bottle of Vodka with them. Then it's fun ;)
What's the best book you read this year?
Whilst it's a shocking condemnation of some parts of the American legal system (surely having ANYONE who's responsible tor trying or pressing cases should NOT be an elected official as this can, and will, lead to a "convictions for votes" situation), there have been similar miscarriages of justice in the UK and almost certainly every other country in the world.
Read it. Now.
What's your favorite thing to drink when it's cold outside?
Coffee made with freshly ground beans, yum. Failing that, a nice full-bodied New Zealand red. They really do make some fantastic wines over there! Chilean comes a very, very close second.
Today is Vox's first anniversary since the official launch. What's the best experience you've had on Vox in the past year?
Catching up with people I'd mostly lost touch with. Wenders, Dale, Joanie, Mark (when he deigns to post!) y'all have helped brighten my day on numerous occasions. Although I'd never realised before quite what a potty mouth Wendy was! ;)
Do you have a regular workout routine? What's your favorite form of exercise?
Does masturbation count? No, oh, ok.
Well, I guess I walk:
- from home to the station
- from the station to work
- from work to the station
- from the station to home
What sources do you count on for national news coverage? How about international and local news?
news.bbc.co.uk - why settle for anything less than hyperlinked up-to-the-minute goodness?
I've decided, mainly because I've ran out of any other remotely blog-worthy material to write an occasional series (almost certainly interspersed with QOTDs) of tricks I've discovered for dealing with a break-up and thus, Getting Over Him. See the reason for the topic title and tags now, clever, huh? ;-)
Smell. Yes. Smell. If the ex had an aftershave he wore regularly, go buy yourself a bottle and start wearing it (Or alternatively blag a load of samplers from your local Boots scent counter). That way, the next time you see him or smell the scent on someone else, well, you won't. So that awful gut-twisting sensation thanks to scent-association is gone. It really is that simple.
I forgot to blog about this... A couple of weeks ago I received a text from Fitness First saying "Fitness First miss you!", sadly it wasn't from a number, so I couldn't reply back with "I don't miss you, fuck off!". Oh well.
